Makeover Series with SheKnows: The Reveal

jeannine-morris-makeover-hostWorking with Jessica for SheKnows was a blast. She was so genuinely grateful for her makeover and was eager to learn how to pull herself together. In the consultation video, Candace Cameron Bure and I had her try on a variety of different silhouettes and styles to see what looked best on her body type and what she felt most comfortable in. In the end, she owned her look and exuded confidence. Exactly what we wanted to see! Check out video to see her makeover reveal and my honest thoughts.

My 2nd E! Commercial for Dove

And here it is, the second commercial I shot this summer in LA for Dove that's currently airing on E!.  This time red carpet stylist, Micaela Erlanger (who's responsible for everything Lupita Nyong'o wears), joined Alicia Quarles and I.  As you can see, it was a really fun shoot day and great pleasure to work with these talented women.  Make sure you tune into the E! red carpet on Emmys night to see what Dove and I have in store!

jeannine-morris-doveHappy Monday!  I couldn't wait to share this news with you!  You might have seen me tweet, "It's all happening," or noticed I've been working in LA pretty much since my honeymoon.  Now, I can finally share what I've been working on.  Yes, it's a dream come true – I've partnered with Dove and have been working with the E! channel on a surprise project.

If you tune into E! starting today you'll start to see a very familiar face in commercials leading up to the Emmys... and that's not all.  I've been blessed with the opportunity to partner with Dove, who is sponsoring the Emmys and E! red carpet! Working with E!'s Alicia Quarles, two commercials will air pre-Emmys showing you what I'll be doing on Emmy day.  Then...

The Emmys are on Monday, August 25th, so tune in and watch the red carpet live stream on E! online.  If I were your boss, I wouldn't care.

Here's a behind the scenes video from one of my shoots featuring the new Dove Body Wash:

And you know me, there's nothing in the world I'd rather do than work with a brand I've been using since I was a child (from beauty bars to body wash) and with an entertainment network providing insider access – straight from the red carpet!  It truly is the most perfect partnership and I couldn't be more grateful.

Summer Beauty Secrets on CBS 'The Couch'

summer-beauty-secretsLast week on "The Couch" I chatted with Carolina Bermudez about Summer Beauty Secrets.  From sunscreen truths to clearing up the myth about what really happens when you use the sun to "clear acne," we talk about it all.  These summer beauty secrets are ones you've been wondering about.  Do you think your hair grows longer in the summer?  Ha.  Check out the segment below to find out! There is no such thing as a waterproof sunscreen.

The FDA doesn’t support the word “waterproof” at all so labeling can be misleading. Now, all labels should read “water resistant,” but even that reads as “waterproof” to people. The overall rule of thumb is to reapply your SPF every two hours throughout sun exposure, but if you’re in the water, reduce that time frame to every 40 minutes.

Try L'Oreal Advanced Suncare Silky Sheer Lotion SPF 30.

Wearing bright nail colors can make your nails turn yellow.

Most people think that only dark nail polish shades will make your nails turn yellow, however even bright, summer colors can do it. It can simply a reaction from wearing a strong pigment for too long or to the formaldehyde in the polish. To prevent it from happening, try giving your nails a polish break, or opting for a formaldehyde free polish. To rid the yellow, soak your yellow tips in lemon juice, which natural bleaching agent, for several minutes. Use a soft toothbrush dipped in lemon juice to gently scrub the yellow discoloration away. Follow up with cuticle oil.

I like Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil.

Your hair grows faster in the summer.

Show deep conditioners Honestly, this is still up for debate because the difference in hair growth is soooo small! It’s credited to more light exposure, naturally increased estrogen levels, and a better diet may help the overall health of your hair and scalp. So it’s a stretch, but does grow a bit more. To make sure your hair stays healthy throughout the summer, make sure to use a deep conditioner. It’ll help get you the most out of that extra millimeter!

Some good options are Aussie 3 Minute Miracle SmoothBiolage HYDRASOURCE Mask, and Dove Pure Care Dry Oil.

Tanning does not clear acne.

It’s all an illusion. What you’re seeing is the tan darkening the skin around pimples, which makes them stand out less. UV rays damage the skin, weakening the natural barrier and causing it to lose moisture. While at first this means your oily zones dry up, your skin tries to fix this by producing more and more of its own oils. So instead of preventing or lessening breakouts, sun exposure worsens the root of the problem. If you want to create that illusion, without damaging your skin, try a self tanner.

Try Caudalie Soleil Divin.

Shaving does not make your hair grow back thicker.

Shaving has absolutely no effect on hair growth or thickness. What you are more likely to be experiencing when you feel that familiar prickle as the hair begins to grow back, is the thicker part of the hair shaft. This is because the razor cuts the hair straight across the shaft, which is why stubble feels stiffer.

I like Venus Embrace Sensitive.

My DKNY YouTube Series: Scents and Sense

You may remember the behind the scenes pictures I was posting on my social channels last summer as a tease to a project I was working on with DKNY fragrances. Well, I'm really excited to show you what we filmed!  I hosted Scents & Sense, DKNY's YouTube series dedicated to fragrance tips and tricks that's now live on their channel.  Check it out!

Brown Sugar Scrub

Directions

1. You can heat the coconut oil until it's melted in a microwave, then stir in the sugar, mashing it up with your spoon. 2. Finally, squeeze the lemon on top and mix.
