Because it's fall and we're pale.  Hope you enjoy it!

My DKNY YouTube Series: Scents and Sense

Well, I'm really excited to show you what we filmed!  I hosted Scents & Sense, DKNY's YouTube series dedicated to fragrance tips and tricks that's now live on their channel.  Check it out!

Taylor Swift & Nicki Minaj Talk Beauty at the Billboard Women in Music Event

Yesterday I had the pleasure of reporting on the red carpet at the Billboard Women in Music Awards thanks to Crest 3D White, where Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj were honored. They were both incredible to talk to!  Check out highlights from the event including video interviews with both songstresses after the jump! Taylor Swift was named Billboard's Woman of the Year!  As she stood up to accept her award she said, "Out of all of the day dreams I've had as a child, I keep taking a step back and saying, I guess this is what it looks like."  She was so gracious and poised.  She speaks about her New Years Eve look, love for Ralph Lauren Rugby and new bangs in the video below.

Taylor Swift Red Carpet Video:

Nicki Minaj was awarded Billboard's Rising Star and told me on the red carpet what her next beauty project is (video below).  While accepting her award she said, "I'm no different than any other struggling artist that tried one last time."  She was so honest and real.  It was great to see this side of her.  She also spoke about her wigs saying, "Hair changes my mood. It's not always about how I look, it's about how I feel. It does something to my brain, I can't stop!"

Dior Releases the Chicest Video Game Ever

This just landed in my inbox and when I tell you I wish it was real, I'm not lying.  Dior Beauty created a video game they're describing as, "a playful look at the world of Dior Beauty." The video is a collaboration of all of your favorite games – Tetris, Pacman and yes, Super Mario Brothers.  Round three is my favorite.  You have to watch:

Rachel Zoe Talks New Lipstick Line, Exude

Last week I attended an event for Rachel Zoe's new lipstick line, Exude, and had a few minutes to chat with the stylist about her involvement with the collection. Described as a "modern take on a classic lipstick," Exude is a collection of nine lip creams and five glosses that roll up like a regular lipstick, but seep through a clear tube on top for pigment application.  You get the sexiness of applying a lipstick, without the mess of it melting in your purse or becoming deformed as you apply and reapply.  Check out what Rachel had to say after the jump (video):

New Victoria's Secret Video Makes Me Wonder What I'm Doing Wrong

It's no surprise that Victoria's Secret launched a new video clip with Supermodel Lindsay Ellingson primping and spritzing their new fragrance from the Attractions Body Care Collection in a sexual way, but it made me think – damn! why don't I look like that when I get ready to go out?  My boyfriend would die!  Instead he impatiently waits and can't wait for me to start applying my mascara because he knows it's my finishing touch. Check out the video.  Sexy!

How to Style a Chic Braid, Backstage Carlos Miele

Backstage at the Carlos Miele fall 2011 show I caught Rodney Cutler of Cutler for a quick video on how to perfect a chunky, sleek braid.  I was so excited to see the models rocking a look that girls like us are able to do everyday.  If I normally pull back my hair and braid it, I'd look like I was going to the gym!  From now on, I'll be following Mr. Cutler's advice on how to make the style look clean and chic.  Check it out:

Urban Eskimos Invaded the Runway at Rag & Bone

Backstage at Rag & Bone the inspiration was urban eskimo.  Loose braids sporatically placed throughout the hair that "look as if a girl did them herself as she day dreams about her boyfriend" were paired with windswept skin and rosy lips. The Redken lead stylist didn't want the braids to look too perfect.  Each model had two that were secured with a clear hair band and then pulled out a bit to make them looser.

Gucci Westman was the lead makeup artist for Revlon and leaned on a new Revlon compact that comes out in October to complete the look.  It featured a quad of what looked like a mix of lipsticks and eyeshadows. The lipstick was used not only on some of the models' lips to make them pinker, but also on the eye lids to create more texture.

Check out this video of Gucci Westman doing a model's full face:

How To Video: Ballerina Inspired Updo's

Natalie Portman blew us away in  Black Swan, but it seems it's really the ballerina inspired updo that's taken Hollywood by storm. The ballerina look gave the Golden Globes red carpet a fresh, sophisticated look and will be a continuing trend throughout the winter and spring.
Stylist to the stars, Roy Teeluck, who's known for working with Bar Rafaeli and Olivia Palermo recently created a How-To Up-Do Video so that we can all get this glamorous looks at home.  Check it out:

Video: Experiencing Sundance in Style

Hey!  I'm at Sundance and had a fabulous first day!  Yes, it's cold and it's snowing, but Utah is gorgeous!  Amber and I are staying at the Escala Lodge At The Canyons, which is a Hyatt hotel in the middle of the mountain and skiers are actually skiing right outside of our windows.  Penn Badgley was on our flight (in first class of course) and as soon as we landed we spotted Adrian Grenier in an adorable snow hat.  Two hotties in one day, not bad.  Tonight we went to see Ticket to Paradise, which was perhaps the most disturbing movie I've ever seen, but well crafted.  Check out my video on how I'm staying warm and stylish live from the mountains!

BeautySweetSpot's Top Five Posts of 2010

It's been an incredible year thanks to you, my readers!  According to your clicks and the time you've spent on my site I can measure which posts you really read, which you didn't care for and which were a huge hit this year.  Allow me to introduce the top five posts of 2010 according to you: 1. 2010 International Emmy Awards Highlights - This had to be because of Rita Pereira's show-stopping cleavage.  I scored an exclusive interview with the Portugeuse actress backstage that cause quite an uproar.  The YouTube video of the interview now has over 1,152,650 hits!

2. Holiday Gift Idea & Giveaway: Calvin Klein Euphoria - You love giveaways, but this one really hit home for readers of all ages and got quite competitive with 26 entries!

3. Ban Cellulite Now - Every woman's enemy no matter how much they weigh: cellulite.  So it makes sense this one was a big hit.  Hey, it revealed the truth!

4. Vajazzling, I Had To - Ah, vajazzling.  Yes, one of the biggest crazes of 2010 and apparently you were intrigued!  Of course, I had to take it a step further and report on penazzling too!  Hey, it's only fair!

5. Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: Backstage Makeup Secrets Video - Covering this sexy event was one of the highlights of my year.  I had exclusive backstage coverage of the taping of the sexiest show on earth just for you!

So it's been a pretty good year for BeautySweetSpot with some fun interviews including Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian and oh yea, remember when Julia Roberts called me and my other blogger friends "cute" at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards? - awesome!  But I promise that there is much much more in store for you, my readers in 2011.

Thank you for your support this year!

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: Backstage Hair Secrets Video

Sam McKnight, lead hairstylist behind the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show described the look as "sexy, full, voluptuous, gorge, movable, touchable – dream girls with dream hair."  Yep, that pretty much sums up Bombshell waves! His secret: clip in extensions.  All of the girls besides two were wearing them (some glue in) to accentuate their hair and give them va-va-voom appeal. In the video below McKnight explains the look and converses with Alessandra as she impatiently begins to do her own!

Key products used were Very Sexy Hairspray (can be used on the bod too!) and Tousled Waves Enhancer.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Finale Video

I couldn't help myself. We weren't supposed to take photos or film, but the event was so grand, so incredible, I had to share it – especially with you. I started recording towards the end of Katy Perry's super remixed performance that began with Teenage Dream as models were walking out in VS Pink clothing and caught this: All I have to say is O.M.G!  Wait until it airs on Nov. 30th so you can get the full effect.

Exclusive Interview with VS Angel, Candice

I was lucky enough backstage to meet Candice while she was getting her makeup done to get the exclusive scoop on what she thinks her best asset is, how she got it and loves to flaunt it!  Check it out:

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: Backstage Makeup Secrets Video

Tom Pecheux created a golden California girl look by enhancing the models natural features with sunkissed contoured cheeks, false lashes and a bit of pink on the lip.

Key products: an array of Victoria's Secret Lip Lacquer shades (they last!) and Victoria's Secret Ultimate Makeup Kit.

Check out the video of the master applying the look on a VS model and giving me tips and tricks on applying false lashes:

Glamour Women of the Year Awards Highlights

I may not have been an honoree, but I felt like one! Last night I was honored to attend the 20th anniversary of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards with the fabulous women of L'Oreal Paris.  I was psyched to attend because this years honorees included some of the biggest names including Julia Roberts, Cher, Donatella Versace and Fergie Ferg, but to my surprise I was more impacted by the honorees I've never heard of.

After being primped by the L'Oreal glam squad at the Technical Center and slipping into my alldressedup dress, I hit the red carpet with some of the best in beauty, Amber Katz, Polly Blitzer and Dana Oliver.

First, we received the updated media list that announced that Kate Hudson, Oprah, Hilary Swank, Kelly Osbourne, Janet Jackson, Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer were presenting.  Kate Hudson!  For those of you who consistently follow BeautySweetSpot you know she's my fave actress of all times – and besides Oprah... the only one who didn't walk the red carpet, but whatever, I'm over it.

The Red Carpet Scoop:

  • Julia Roberts came over to us to chat and called us "the cute girl corner!" Check out the video below!

  • Donatella Versace dished that her must have beauty product was mascara.  She was also loitering around the red carpet for quite some time.
  • I've always admired her abs, but Fergie's booty stole the show in her form fitting orange-red gown!
  • I'm not sure what happened, but Tory Burch looked minuscule, I'm talking 90 pounds tiny.
  • Janelle Monae confessed it takes 10 people to do her hair at a time!

The awards show was completely empowering and at the same time, a tear jerker (which I didn't expect).  Oprah presented Julia Roberts with an award and Kate Hudson presented to Fergie.  The room was full of energy and laughter, but at times, things took a serious note.

The award that affected me the most was given to Dr. Hawa Abdi, a Somali ob-gyn who, with her two daughters, also doctors, provide for almost 90,000 people who are affected by the countries violence.  Their courage is incredible and story was so touching.  Katie Couric appropriately presented the award and Glamour's Women of the Year Fund will be supporting Dr. Abdi's efforts.

Glamour also partnered with L'Oreal Paris in creating a special 20th anniversary Women of the Year nail polish, $6.50 in which $3 of every bottle bought will be donated to the fund.  The color is a perfect fall reddish mauve.

My Night with Kim Kardashian, A Peek Inside An Industry Event

Last week I attended a Fusion Beauty Event with Kim Kardashian.  Even though I've met her before, this was different.  It was an intimate cocktail party with Kim at Villa Parci in the Meatpacking District and a select amount of other bloggers and I actually got to hang out and converse with her for an hour and a half. I admire her so much because before anything, she's a business woman.  Kim spoke to the Fusion Beauty collection, which she's a Spokesperson for and then answered any questions we had and just hung out.  She's very sweet and down to earth and yes, stunning.  She wore n a grey bandage skirt with a lace top, black bra peeking through and black Louboutins.  I had to ask her what her guiltiest pleasure was since I was thinking of BeautySweetSpot and she said watching mystery shows.

Out of all of the Fusion Beauty products discussed Kim clearly loved the Illumifil the most. It's a primer with light reflecting properties that her makeup artists use both under and over her foundation depending on the look they're trying to create.  My favorite Fusion Beauty product – a balm called Bitten.

If you really want to see what the event was like, check out the below footage.  I got some of it on tape!  Kim spills her date night makeup tips:
