After writing my last post, I wanted to give you a useful take away in hopes it can help you or someone you know learning to live with grief. Throughout the past few weeks, I've gathered a team of professionals to help me with bereavement support. It's going to take time, but I wanted you to know that this type of help exists. Here's how they've all been assisting me and what they have to offer.
Throughout the past few weeks of grief, one piece of advice keeps circling, "tend to something," and it led me to begin fostering kittens. Taking care of my first foster kitten, who was seven weeks when I got him, had a cold and was very weak, has been a reason to get out of bed and he’s looking for a forever home.
I'm picking up the Soul Candy series again and to kick off the new year, I thought I'd tell you about a very special story that touched my life personally. I volunteer at the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City and often find myself in the cattery cleaning cat cages and making friends with all of them as I go. Nothing makes me happier than helping at the shelter. Throughout the past few months, I took special notice to one cat in particular named Pepper who thanks to her age, spots of missing hair and cone around her neck, seemed what some would say, "unadoptable."
I've been volunteering at the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City as of late and absolutely love the animals. true love and care are given to the animals and tons of the hard work goes into getting each and everyone of them adopted. Adoption success stories make my day and this week, I'm proud to share this story from my friend, Alexis Farah of RandomActsofLipstick.com, who has opened her LA home to fostering dogs. I couldn't be more proud of her!
I'm so excited to be hosting a yoga class for the Liberty Humane Society next weekend! The animal shelter is located in Jersey City, NJ and is where we recently adopted Leo.
