Soul Candy: Foster Mom

we need more people like this in the world

I've been volunteering at the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City as of late and absolutely love the animals.  true love and care are given to the animals and tons of the hard work  goes into getting each and everyone of them adopted.  Adoption success stories make my day and this week, I'm proud to share this story from my friend, Alexis Farah of RandomActsofLipstick.com, who has opened her LA home to fostering dogs.  I couldn't be more proud of her!

All it took was a move to Los Angeles and a freelance career to realize that I was ready to be a foster mom ... to some very adorable four-legged creatures. The organization that I worked with in New York (Social Tees Animal Rescue) has paws on the ground in LA, too, and sweeps the high kill shelters to save highly adoptable dogs. I’ve been the foster “pit stop” between the shelter and permanent placements to 12 puppies (and counting...), two of which were adopted locally.

And while I’m not ready to have a dog of my own (yet!), there was no way I would pass up an opportunity to do what I could to save these sweet souls. It’s heartbreaking to receive a newly sprung dog who is scared and shaky, but it’s the most rewarding thing in the world (at least to a girl who cries at ASPCA commercials) to watch those happy, waggy tails leave me for their furrever homes.
