The Facial Zac Posen Swears By & Why It Works

Zac Posen, Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore and Ashley Greene all turned to Celebrity Facialist, Joanna Vargas just days before the Met Gala to whip their skin into shape.  She's Hollywood's constant go-to and you bet your butt I'll be visiting her the day before my wedding.  I had the pleasure of chatting with Joanna again about what thehype of her facials is all about.

Your Triple Crown Facial seems to be popular amongst your celebrity clientele. Why is this the facial to receive before a big event?

My Triple Crown Facial is an awesome treatment to get before an event and is favored by my celebrity clients before a shoot or the red carpet. I use a mild electric current to drain puffiness, tone muscle and tighten skin. There is no downtime, people love the instant effect and long term, the effects are cumulative. I usually recommend this facial once a month. For someone in their twenties, a facial once a month is always recommended, but this facial is a great treatment once a month for thirty and up. Since I designed this treatment myself, it is only available in my salon.

Can you describe the three steps and their benefits?

Step one, the diamond peel, really removes surface dirt and dead cells. I believe a great exfoliation is awesome and can transform the skin. It allows or all the products to penetrate better.

The microcurrent drains puffiness, tightens muscle and builds collagen. It's like going to the gym for your face .

Oxygen is soothing, healing and collagen building all on its own. It gives anyone an instant glow and gives the skin a much needed boost.

How did you come up with combining the elements of the facial?

I always try to combine the best technologies for my clients so they always see a difference in their skin at the end.

Since most of the results are temporary, how long do they last and how far in advance should someone get one before a big event?

The day of is ideal. If not, then the night before is what I recommend.

Do you do anything differently durning the facial when treating mens skin like Zac Posen than treating womens like Michelle Williams?

Well, we all tend have the same concerns: clear skin, small pores, and everyone wants to look well rested and fresh even when they’re working night and day!

The Best Manicures of the Met Gala from Punk Chaos to Couture

This years Met Gala revealed the exhibit, "PUNK: from Chaos to Couture," which allowed our favorite celebs to donned punk-inspired beauty and fashion looks and some of them really went all out.  Of course, Nicole Richie killed it with gray hair, a burgendy lip shade and a manicure to-die-for.  Other celebs like Blake Lively and Emmy Russom had nail art worth coveting.

Met Gala Approved Beauty Trend: Vampy Lipstick

Tonight at the Met Gala, perhaps one of the most high fashion events of the year, the biggest names in the industry along with Hollywood's most talented walked the red carpet donning their most glamorous attire.  One beauty trend that couldn't go unnoticed was the plethora of dark lipstick that coated the pouts of Jessica Alba, Camilla Belle and Lana Del Rey.  They were all sporting a vampy lip look to compliment their metallic gowns.  Here's how to get the look. Jessica Alba in Michael Kors

Jessica wore a deep red lip that reminded me of one of my favorite color combos from Nars.  To get the look, try Nars Lipstick in Fire Down Below layered over Nars Lipliner in African Queen.

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren

Camilla reportedly blended her lip look herself creating a deep burgundy glossy shade that  reads almost black.  Into it?  Try Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Cassis and top it with an even vampier gloss like YSL Black Lip Gloss.

Lana Del Rey in Altuzarra

The mission was to represent her music.  Mission accomplished.  The singer wore a matte, deep, velvet red lip.  Check out Illamasqua Lipstick in Matte Deep Scarlet Red.

Get January Jone's Chic Chingnon

If we had to pick one lady who stood out among all the rest at this year’s Met Gala, it would have to be January Jones.  Her stylist, Mark Townsend, shared with BeautySweetSpot the secrets behind the actress’s gorgeous updo. “I think the whole look was really inspired by this years Met Ball theme of American Woman,” notes Townsend. This was a very modern, and almost futuristic take on a very classic American silhouette."

Inspired by her detailed YSL dress, Townsend chose to juxtapose classic with modern using all Dove hair products to get the perfect texture and finish.  Here’s how to get this look at home:

Spritz

Apply sprays like Dove Heat Defense Protect and Shine Mist to protect hair from damage resulting from heat styling.  Then, apply volumizing mousse for volume and hold without stiffness.

Straighten

Blow dry with a large round brush and backcomb roots at top for more body.

Twist

For an oversized French twist, backcomb all the hair towards the back before securing the twist.  Apply Dove Frizz Control Taming Cream to tame flyaways at the top and to the right side of the twist for some rocker-like texture.  Twist hair in back and fasten with a few bobby pins.

Best of Beauty at the Met Gala

Tonight's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala brought out fashion's finest to feature the museum's new exhibit, "American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity." Kate Moss showed up on the arm of Marc Jacobs, Anna Wintour, Tory Burch, Margherita Missoni, Kate Hudson, Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake all walked the red carpet amongst other notables.

Here are a few of BeautySweetSpot's Best of Beauty from the night (and they're all blonde!):

Known for keeping things simple, Claire Danes took it up a few notches tonight and worked the red carpet like never before.  By adding volume to her blowout and smoking out her eye she turned into a sex kitten.  Meow!

Kate Bosworth rocked old school Hollywood glam.  It was an appropriate look for the evening and made her stand out from the rest.

Pulling her hair back off of her face into a sleek updo allowed Blake Lively to show off her fresh face and radiant beauty.  She got it right by highlighting the inner corners of her eyes with white shadow, layering black mascara and adding a pop of color with a fuchsia lip.
