Turmeric is more than a flavorful cooking spice. It's also a powerful nutritional supplement, containing bioactive compounds with effective medicinal benefits. According to Kansas State University research, adding turmeric can reduce the levels of heterocyclic amines (carcinogenic compounds that are formed when meats are barbecued, boiled or fried) by up to 40 percent.

The skincare benefits of turmeric range, but it's known for decreasing acne and scarring and controlling psoriasis flares. Curcumin is the active compound found within turmeric’s rhizomatous root that is at the core of boosting immunity. It's responsible for promoting your body’s internal defenses with its active neuro-protective, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.

4. Scalp Savior

Combine olive oil and turmeric to banish dandruff and improve the overall condition of your scalp. Mix of turmeric and oil (jojoba or coconut suggested), massage it into your scalp and let it set for 15 minutes. Shampoo and condition as normal following the treatment.
