Adventures at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach

sunshine, relaxation and love

Over the holiday weekend last week, Joe and I escaped to Miami for some R & R.  We stayed for the first time at the Fontainebleau and took full advantage of everything the property had to offer.  Besides the pool and beach, I'm excited to tell you about my Miami lipstick wardrobe, the restaurants and of course, share more on the spa that blew me away.

We stayed in a junior king suite on the 15th floor of the Sorrento Tower that had an oversized balcony and breathtaking views.  The suite had a gorgeous bathroom with a deep set tub and living area with a kitchenette set up.  One of our favorite things to do during our stay was have coffee (decaf for me!) on the balcony and watch the sun rise.

Fitness

Upon arrival at our hotel, one of the first things Joe and I did was check out the gym, a 5,800 square foot space with views of the ocean, up to date cardio equipment and everything you'd need for a good workout.  I was excited to find that they also offered outdoor fitness classes each morning and took yoga on Saturday.

You know I've been to my fair share of spas and when I tell you this was one of the most impressive, I mean it.  The Lapis Spa is 40,000 square feet, chic and modern with gorgeous white marble floors, high ceilings, a coed mineral infused bath that separated the ladies and gents locker rooms, hot tubs, steam rooms, rain showers and 40 private treatment rooms.  Joe and I spent quality time enjoying all the facility had to offer.

The staff was friendly and professional and I couldn't have asked for a better masseuse.  I opted to try an Ayurvedic massage and left feeling relaxed and fulfilled.  (See post here.  It's like nothing I've ever experienced before.)  Joe and I loved that we could use some of the facilities together.

Beauty

Since it was Miami, I packed and wore some vibrant, new lip shades that I would never wear in NYC including the below from left to right.  When doing a lip look, I typically always go for vampy, but it was fun to play with some new looks.  Of course, I also had a clear gloss with me that I occasionally wore depending on my dress.

Food

Scarpetta

Scarpetta

La Cote, a Mediterranean restaurant located outside right in between the pool and beach was our daily stomping ground for lunch.  They served everything from healthy salads and chicken sandwiches to burgers and fries.  The bar scene was always packed, with a DJ accompanied by live music on the weekends.

Since we have Scarpetta in NYC, we didn't eat here, but stopped in every night before going out to dinner for a martini.  By the second night, the bartenders remembered not only exactly how we like our martinis (up, very dry with olives), but also our names, which is an appreciated personal touch.  Even though we didn't eat there, we of course glanced at the menu and was impressed to find gluten free and vegan options (very Jeannine friendly).

The Fontainebleau has 12 restaurants and lounges and I found it interesting that in order to ensure the freshest fish, they fish several times a week and have a 2,000 gallon collection of salt water tanks in the basement.  Each day, chefs pick out the food to be cooked and served.  They also have an in-house bakery, which makes all of the bread and pastries.
