Yes, you need retinol in your regimen.
If there's one skincare ingredient we should all be using it's retinol (unless your pregnant, of course). The Vitamin A derivative has been the most recommended anti-aging ingredient by dermatologists for years now and is known as the rolls-royce of the beauty industry.
It helps to accelerate your skin's cellular turnover, which helps to fight fine lines and wrinkles, keep your pores clear and even out discoloration. However, despite these impressive benefits, retinol's also known to be initially super drying and because of that, most people don't stick it out long enough to begin to reap the benefits. Thanks to new technology in skincare today, that's all changing.
As a leader in drugstore skincare, I wasn't surprised when I first learned about the technology behind Neutrogena's new retinol product – Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream. Meant for daily use twice per day, it includes a cocktail of moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin that balances out the otherwise negative effects of retinol. I've been using it throughout January and find that my skin already appears healthier. I also like that it's helped to streamline my skincare regimen, making two steps (retinol then moisturizer) only one. Good for all skin types, it has a medium consistency and fresh scent. (I typically don't like scented skincare, but this smells natural and clean.)
When it comes to skincare, you normally need to give a product about eight weeks before seeing any kind of results. However, living in a world where we're always seeking instant gratification (and I don't know about you, but I'm so impatient with my skin), I began seeing results after just one week of using this product. My skin already seems brighter and more moisturized.
