I recently attended a launch event to celebrate R + Co's latest products and left completely impressed and intrigued particularly by one – the Cactus Texturizing Shampoo. As a firm believer (and tried and true professional tester) that one doesn't really receive styling benefits beyond smoothness from shampoos, I was eager to put this one to the test. Guess what? I'm writing about it, so you already know it worked.
Out of the ten years in the industry testing shampoos and conditioners, I've never come across a shampoo that claimed to be "texturizing." Volumizing? Sure, but texturizing was new to me. As someone with fine, straight hair I'll try anything that promises to add a little personality to my otherwise lifeless style. This shampoo seriously adds texture.
Thanks to the ingredient volcanic ash, it makes my hair feel a little more gritty upon drying (but I'm still able to run my hands through it), which instantly makes it look more voluminous and helps it to hold style. Whether I air dry or blow dry, if I leave it straight, it looks fuller and has some grip. When I use a curling iron, it offers built in hold so my curls actually last. (If you have soft, fine hair like me, you understand the struggle.)
If you have somewhat wavy or curly hair, then of course, you'll achieve different results, but the proof is in the pudding. I'm shocked and excited to say that this shampoo truly delivers on it's promise, but sorry to tell you that it won't hit store shelves until September.
