I can’t believe my wedding was already almost a year ago! When it came to my makeup, I told my makeup artist I just wanted to accentuate my features, paying special attention to my eyes, and use shades of bronze and peach to compliment my golden spray tan. I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, so I recreated the look with Mary Kay’s latest collection. Walking down the aisle soon? Here’s how to get the look:
Eyes
I started with my eyes so I’d be able to clean up any shadow that falls onto my cheeks without messing up my face makeup. I used Mineral Eye Color in Chocolate Kiss all over my lids and then defined them by going into the crease with French Roast. In the inner corners, I placed Honey Spice, to make them pop.
Of course, I opted to use waterproof mascara, Lash Love Waterproof Mascara in I Love Black, because there were some teary moments at my wedding! The mascara wand has tiny plastic bristles that allow for fullness and separation. Coating my bottom lashes was just as important as my top, since they help to define the eye. A swipe of Brow Gel was the finishing touch.
Cheeks
I used the NEW Mineral Cheek Color Duo in Juicy Guava (launches May 16), which looked intimidatingly bright at first, but simply added the peach flush I was going for. I swept the highlighter on top of my cheekbones and down the center of my nose to help make it appear smaller.
Lips
I lined my lips with Lip Liner in Soft Blush and topped it off with True Dimensions Sheer Lipstick in Sparkling Rose. The shades brought out my natural lip color, but offered enough pigment for camera.
Staying true to my color palette and self was an important decision that I made on my wedding day. I’d advise making sure you do makeup trials if you’re hiring a makeup artist, or if you’re doing your own wedding day makeup, stick with your gut. Your husband-to-be should be able to see you when you walk down the aisle.
