Blake Lively in Cannes: Makeup Looks

Blake-Lively-Is-Cannes-2014-Best-Dressed-In-Chanel-Couture4Despite the fact that Blake Lively doesn't have a film in the Cannes Film Festival this year, she's been absolutely killing it on the red carpet.  Whether on Ryan Reynolds's arm or not (who's actually there promoting his film, The Captive), she has been making an effort and breaking necks thanks to the glam squad with L'Oreal Paris doing her makeup looks and her couture gowns.  Here are her beauty breakdowns – her lips, a constant rose story. As far as I'm concerned, she can do no wrong.  Her beauty looks have been just as impressive as her gowns.  Which is your favorite?

Teen Choice Awards Trend Report: Sleek 'Do's

The 13th annual Teen Choice Awards were held last night in Los Angeles, CA and while most of the young starlettes including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and of course Kim and Kourtney Kardashian looked radiant on the blue carpet, I couldn't help but admire the sleek, straight, glossy locks of Ashley Greene, Cameron Diaz and Blake Lively. "Modern, sleek hair is so hot at the moment," exclaims celeb stylist (and the genius behind Ashley Greene's strands) Ted Gibson.

Here's a breakdown on how-to get the look:

1. Spritz a blow drying prep spray like Blow Heat is On Dry Protective Styling Mist onto damp hair and part it exactly where you'd like it to lay.

2. Blow dry with a flat brush, and apply a frizz controlling lotion like Ted Gibson Tame It Shine Lotion from mid-shaft to ends.

3. Flat iron in one to two inch sections all around your head and finish with a light-weight hairspray for a bit of control.

Haute Hue: Red, Yay or Nay?

First Scarlett Johansson then Blake Lively... it seems our favorite blondes are trading in their signature locks for strawberry-hinted reddish hues. Blake's excuse?  She wanted to feel like the character she was playing for her new role in the movie Hick.  Makes sense to me and even though I like her better as a blonde I think she nicely pulls off this color too.

I remember when Scarlett dyed her hair red for her role in Iron Man 2 back in 2009.  I liked it then, but it was also a deeper red and her hair was longer so it was an overall sexier look.  Now, I think her short hair looks better as a blonde.

Thoughts?

Oscar Beauty Predictions

I absolutely cannot wait for the Oscar's tomorrow night, but feel it's bitter sweet because the ceremony brings a close to awards season, my favorite season of the year. I got the scoop from celeb stylist, Sally Hershberger who works with major A-Listers including Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan and Blake Lively on her predictions for Oscar-worthy hairstyles.

"I predict lots of flow and movement," Hershberger commented.  "For those who opt for their hair up, the the overworked, over-styled updos are gone and the modern take on it is a soft, sophisticated style that is still youthful and pulled together."

Thinking back to the Golden Globes, which was just a few weeks ago, I guess Hershberger would be surprised to see anyone walking the carpet with a 'do like the stiff mess that was on Scarlett Johansson's head.

What was she thinking anyway!?

Emmy Beauty Predictions

This time last year I was in LA getting ready to do a beauty segment for E! on secrets of the stars beauty habits on the red carpet during the Emmys.  The experience was incredible!  I was with E!'s own Ashlan Gorse and chatted it up for the rest of the day with people like Padma Lakshmi, Blake Lively, Drew Barrymore and the cast of Mad Men. This year, I cannot wait to watch the Emmys and have some beauty predictions of what type of makeup looks the nominees will be sporting from Physician's Formula Celebrity Makeup Artist, Joanna Schlip.

"At this year's Emmy's we'll be seeing two very distinct looks," remarked Joanna.  "I'm betting on retro glam and and feminine using monochromic, knock-out neutrals."

Last year, Leighton Meester sported the rocked glam look in a chic white dress perfectly.  It's all about flawless skin, defined brows and a sharp red lip.  Joanna also thinks the cat eye will be a huge focal point, but this time, more exaggerated.

Will you be tuning into the Emmys this year?  Who are you excited to see on the red carpet?
