Charlotte Tilbury Launches Makeup Collection

charlotte-tilburyNY Fashion Week doesn't feel complete unless I interview Charlotte Tilbury. Each season, I always look forward to seeing her and sharing in her enthusiasm for whatever look she's creating at the time.  For the past few months, I've been covering her new makeup collection that's only been available in London, but starting in September, it'll be available in the states and I couldn't be more excited (and you should be, too)!  BeautySweetSpot's Emily Rekstis attended the launch event and got the scoop!

Tilbury tuned into the NYC editor launch event via Skype from her home in London to talk about her latest venture.  Explaining that she created a "wardrobe of makeup looks" based on her past and modern day icons like Mia Farrow, Kate Moss and Penelope Cruz, you can shop each look making it easy to purchase products online.  As you can see from this post, I was overjoyed when she actually created her Penelope look on Penelope Cruz.

Here are some of Tilbury's absolute favorites from her new line:

charlotte-tilbury-cosmetics Magic Cream: Tilbury cannot do a shoot without this special formula.  She's been using it for years and finally bottled it for everyone to use.

charlotte-tilbury-cosmeticsWonderglow: “I like to call it my Giselle in a jar.” Now you can have that beautiful, Brazilian skin. This, is an instant pick-me-up.

charlotte-tilbury-cosmeticsSupermodel Body: This will make you look slimmer by creating the illusion of a Victoria's Secret angel's body through contouring and sculpting.  It's confidence in a tube.

charlotte-tilbury-cosmeticsFeline Flick: The easiest way to apply Tilbury's signature eye. “My sister can do it using this. I knew if she could, I succeeded.”

charlotte-tilbury-cosmeticsLuxury Palette: The order of application is all in the palette making it easy to apply.  Top left to right: prime then enhance. Bottom left to right: enhance then smoke.

Charlotte Tilbury's products will be available in September at CharlotteTilbury.com, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.

Supermodel Beauty Secret: Charlotte Tilbury

Tuesday night Kate Moss took center stage as she launched her latest, 70's inspired collection for Top Shop at the London flagship.  Accompanied by her mother, along with Sienna Miller, Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse, their makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, and her team painted the five Brit babe's faces prior to the event using her own collection.  The proof is in the pictures, she's a true supermodel beauty secret

Kate Moss and her mother, Linda, rocked Charlotte Tilbury's look known as the Dolce Vita with different lip shades.  Tilbury actually blended a color called Nude Kate that Moss wore and is now for sale and her mother wore the lipstick in Stone Rose.

Sienna Miller's skin was glowing as Tilbury treated her to the Golden Goddess look. Her skin looks effortlessly sculpted and eyes are piercingly enticing.  And no, she didn't go tanning.  It's no wonder a makeup artist can be a supermodel's beauty secret.  This is one of my favorites.

Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse both opted for her Rock Chick look, which was actually inspired by Kate Moss's party all night attitude.  Slept in smoky eyes are the key element.

Like I said, the proof is in the pictures.  For some of the top supermodels, their best kept secret is makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.  I'm really excited because in September, her products will be available in the states.  I have super high expectations.  Hey, if they're good enough for Kate Moss... never mindPenelope Cruz (see post)...

Charlotte Tilbury Brings Her "Penelope Look" to Life on Penelope Cruz

Spotted on Instagram: Charlotte Tilbury dishing on working with Penelope Cruz, who was recently named Lancome's newest Spokeswoman for their latest fragrance, Trésor Lumineuse.  Tilbury's been on a mission of her own lately, introducing a cosmetic line, which she used to create Penelope's recent look, otherwise known as "Dolce Vita." Described as having "come to bed eyes," created with smoldering copper & bronze shades, complimented by a pink seductive lip (actually called Penelope Pink), the look was inspired by Penelope. Seeing it come to life on Penelope, of course, took it to another level.

Being she's one of the world's most coveted makeup artists, her new collection is also one to covet.  You can shop different looks (here's Penelope's) or products on a per need basis.

Here's a video of Charlotte describing exactly to get the super seductive look:

Charlotte Tilbury Talks Rock N' Kohl

For the first time in history, Selfridges in London held a beauty festival allowing world renowned makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, to take over their concept store. She kicked off a week of events called, “Charlotte Tilbury’s House of Rock ‘N Kohl,” featuring a guest appearance by Kate Moss, makeovers and more.  Since I've known Charlotte for years, I got the chance to chat with her to find out what the lucky ladies of London got to experience.  Read on for details and a cool behind the scenes video. Congratulations on wrapping up your “House of Rock ‘N Kohl” at Selfridges in London!  What was your inspiration behind the concept?

I am so honored and excited that I was able to create my House of Rock ‘n’ Kohl at Selfridges. I love the retail theatre, drama and history of Selfridges as it really was the first place to celebrate and put beauty on the map. I wanted to share all of my tricks and tips from backstage and throughout my career and create the first event where we could celebrate the world of beauty, fashion and make-up in the world’s best department store.

What was the highlight of the event for you and why?

There were so many from Cara Delevingne’s incredible drumming debut, unveiling Kate Moss’s portrait, being on the sofa with some of the most influential, inspiring and interesting people in the world of fashion and beauty, the amazing Tilbury Transformations and sharing my backstage tricks, tips and magic cream with some of the most passionate beauty fans.

When helping people clean out their makeup bags, what advice to you typically give?

Always make sure you clean your brushes. Brushes get dirty so quickly and easily and they are a real harbor for blemish causing germs. I use Isopropyl Alchohol but Mac has a great brush cleaner that really works to clean and maintain your brushes.

Out of all of the items in your makeup kit, which five are absolute must haves and why?

It’s so hard to only choose 5! I feel naked without mascara and eyeliner as they really open up my eyes and make me look more awake. A bronzer is a must have for getting that healthy glow, under eye brightener is essential after long nights and a nude lipstick for that perfect pout.

Backstage Beauty Report: Rachel Zoe Infuses Boho with Glamour

If there's one beauty look Rachel Zoe's known for, it's rocking a deep burgundy lip.  Backstage at her show yesterday it was no surprise that she was inspired by Kate Moss (duh) and kept the focus on a wine stained lip.  Staying true to herself, I wasn't mad at her, because I found myself once again loving the look her backstage glam squad created, especially the glam lip!   "Rachel wanted the girls to be like young Kate Mosses running around a field with a golden glow as if they can be frolicking around in the hay, but to juxtapose that, she wanted what she called a 'bad ass' lip," explained Charlotte Tilbury the lead makeup artist for Maybelline.

To achieve the look that's pretty much Rachel's inspiration for everything, Tilbury used Dream Fresh BB Cream on the models, a shade or two darker on the paler skinned girls for an added glow and added a bit of Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Cocoa wherever the sun would naturally hit.  The cheeks had a hint of pink.  "The lip is an oxblood stain in the center of the lip, but it's matte and smoked out," Tilbury said as she demonstrated by painting it on a model using her finger.  The color: SuperStay 14Hr Lipstick in Wine and Forever.  To clean up around the edges, she used a q-tip to ensure the lines weren't too perfect.  Clear brow gel and mascara finished the look.

Kerastase Lead Stylist, Odile Gilbert, was excited to explain the look as I feel like it's something she wears on the regular.  "It's basically what you do in the winter when you have long hair and put a coat on," she explained.  "You tuck it into the coat."  To achieve the look, she prepped the models hair with Kerastase Resistance Volumactive Mousse, created a center part and secured a loose, low ponytail pulling out pieces in the front.

Maybelline manicurist, Honey created a custom blend for Rachel out of three colors to create a neutral that wasn't too pink or too cappuccinoish.  It took Honey a few hours of mixing and stirring and she came up with the perfect blend, which she calls the 'flush blush.'  No word on whether or not it will go into production.

One more thing to note is that RZ was one of the only designers who cared about skincare and making sure her models had the proper base before throwing them into makeup.  Dr. Jart was on hand with makeup artist, Joy Fennell to ensure they were prepped so their skin was properly hydrated and plumped.  Their key product: Water Fuse Sure Gel.
