Tom Ford Launches Nail Polish and I'm Obsessed

When Tom Ford first came out with a $48 magic bullet, lipstick of course, despite the price woman ran to the counter.   Now he's coming out with a nail polish collection – I die!  The catch, each luxe lacquer is a whopping $30. (Yes, even more expensive than the Chanel in Graphite you've been trying to convince yourself you don't need – but of course you do!) The polishes are part of Ford's fall beauty collection, which will be available on November 1st at Bergdorfs, but you can pre-order now and I'd get on that.  My faves include Bordeaux Lust (a deep and sexy almost black red), Carnal Red (true red), Plum Noir (deep purple), and Mink Brulee (a dark nude).

Unfortunately for my wallet, but fortunately for my nails, these are another must have and I cannot wait for this mani!

Tom Ford Dishes Why He (and All Men) Look Better with Age

One of my favorite blogs, 5th at 58th, the Bergdorf Goodman blog, recently posted an interview with one of the sexiest men alive, creative mastermind and top designer, Tom Ford. Besides discussing fashion (obvi) he also spoke about the extension of his beauty and skincare line and how he stays so damn hot. "I don’t look in the mirror and say, “Wow, I look great.” I look in the mirror and see all the things that need to be corrected, all the latest developments of aging," Ford comments.  "Whether you’re a man or a woman, you have to take care of yourself."

By taking care of himself, Ford admits to never drinking alcohol, smoking and steering clear of all sweeteners.  He's also maintained the same weight since he was in his 30's. Living on water and being somewhat of a health nut, has certainly paid off.  Looking at his lifestyle from an outside perspective, it's a little extreme (hey, we have to live), but why not look out for ourselves and strive to be our healthiest now and later?  I feel way too many people let themselves go after a certain age and comfort level in their lives.

The interviewer, long time friend and photographer, Lisa Eisner, discusses with him the fact that men typically age well.  I completely agree.  George Clooney anyone?  I think men age much better than woman, but are faced with the same societal pressures.  I really Ford's outlook on cosmetic surgery.

"Having cosmetic surgery doesn’t necessarily make you look younger or better. It does trim off that little piece of extra skin hanging around, so if that bothers you, fine. But I don’t think it tricks anyone into thinking you’re younger or in better shape or health."

Survival of the Sexiest: Tom Ford Launches New Line

Tom Ford exudes sexy.  Not only is the man himself lust-worthy, but his luxorious clothing line, richly pigmented lipsticks, and steamy ads are a dangerous trifecta.

Now, Ford is launching a brand new makeup collection to complete the one-off Private Blend Lip Color he launched last year, which retailed at $45 a pop.  Yes, for one tube.  Mr. Sexy is also launching a full skincare collection at the same time.

“My brain works in the same way whatever I do," Ford said in Womens Wear Daily. "The approach is practical, architectural, and I use the same vocabulary whether I’m designing clothing or color cosmetics.”

What ever your doing Tom, it's working, and like all women in America – I'm turned on.

Best Dressed at the Emmys: Jimmy Fallon

Every time I cover a red carpet event it's always about the women – their glowing skin, twist on a smokey eye and who's wearing the chicest chignon.  However, this year a different breed caught my attention, a man in a tux named Jimmy Fallon. There's something about it that's mysteriously sexy.  This year, Fallon hosted the Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.  The Late Night host was looking dapper in a navy Tom Ford tuxedo with a white shirt, black bow tie (love!) and black patent leather shoes.

Not only was Fallon looking sexy thanks to Tom Ford, but his sense of humor came through and hair was looking right.  Who ever groomed him prior to the show, God bless.

Tom Ford Says Pucker Up for A Price

Tom Ford collaborated with Estee Lauder in creating Private Blend Lip Color launching in June.  Yes, the colors are rich and seem to be velvety smooth, but the cost of one tube seems to be absurd!  They're a whopping $45 each! "This is my take on 12 classic lip colors," Ford remarks. "I took the most universally flattering shades a woman could wear and then reimagined them in a modern and authoritative way."

While Mr. Ford may have authority in fashion and cosmetics, I'm not so sure charging $45 for a lipstick is reasonable.  Formulated with soja seed extract, Brazillian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil, the texture alone may make it worth the splurge.

One of my favorite bronzers of all time was a collaboration between Tom Ford and Estee Lauder, but it's been discontinued.  So I warn you, if you do decide to purchase one of these luxurious shades, don't get hooked they may not be around forever.
