Interview: Michael B. Jordan

Michael+B+Jordan+AXE+Gold+Temptation+Product+Gw8_zKrDfSrlYou guys may know him from Friday Night Lights or The Wire, but I became familiar with Michael B. Jordan, because of his explosive Twitter account.  As AXE's latest muse, I had the chance to chat with the actor about his partnership,  his biggest temptations and of course, what type of scents he likes on women.  Check out what he has to say.

What made you want to partner with AXE?

This particular campaign was interesting to me. According to an AXE survey, 75 percent of guys and 60 percent of girls don’t know what tempts each other. I could relate to this topic and wanted to help be part of the solution in a cool, creative way. Not only does this allow me to help solve answers in the modern world of dating, but AXE is allowing me to step behind the cameras and direct some of the content.

Besides AXE, do you have a favorite fragrance, a cologne?

I like fragrances that are fresh and sophisticated – like the citrus and cedarwood combination in Gold Temptation.

Does your fragrance choice change with the character you're playing?

I do a lot of preparation to get into my characters. I think there’s a strong correlation between fragrance and how it makes you feel. Pairing a fragrance with a specific character is one way to help get into character.

Is there a particular scent that you like on a woman?

I like floral, sweet scents that are subtle – and keep you coming back for more. Like how AXE Gold Temptation has notes of chocolate with citrus and spice.

You host AXE's #TemptationTuesday on Twitter. What are your biggest temptations?

It’s been fun hearing about what guys and girls find tempting – you’d be surprised.  There’s always something you just can’t resist. Staying healthy is huge for me, but if bacon’s an option, I’m adding it. And if I walk past sneakers, I’m walking out with them.

The Benefits of Being A "Well-Groomed" Man, Plus New Product Suggestions for Your Man

Recently, I came across a Schick Skin-dex survey that stated well-groomed men are more confident, twice as likely to be employed and have twice as much sex, which didn't surprise me.  I mean, did you see Ben Affleck at the SAG awards?  I'm a huge fan of "formal facial hair" and Damian Lewis's messy, done yet undone hair worked well with his modern, black Burberry tux.  Well groomed?  I'd say so.  Here's the latest crop of men's grooming products that survived Joe's test, who, may I add, is super handsome. Mario Badescu Peppermint Shaving Cream, the slight tingling and cooling sensation the mint was something Joe was drawn to.  It also has a light, whipped texture allowing for a clean, moisturized shave. Axe Apollo 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner, I'll never get it, but men love the combination of shampoo and conditioner and when Joe saw the new AXE Apollo collection included one it became his go-to.

Sexy Hair Short Sexy Hair Slept In Texture Creme, the light texture of this pomade helps keep hairs in place without leaving them looking too sticky or waxy helping Joe achieve an undone, done look.

AXE for Her is Here! Did It Bring the AXE Effect?

Now this is kind of insane.  Last week I received a locked briefcase from AXE in the mail with a note that read, "You'll receive the code at our event next week." For a few days this mysterious brief case sat in my studio as I pondered what was inside.  I was sent the code via email since I couldn't make it to the event and have to admit, it took me a few minutes to try to figure out how to crack the damn thing open!  I felt like there should have been stacks of $100's inside, but instead it was new AXE Anarchy products for men (as expected) and a surprise, one for women as well – Anarchy Body Spray for Her.  For her? It was AXE's first product for women.  I'm really excited for the brand as I think it's a great idea for them to break into the women's market.  Why not right? The body spray smells super light and fruity, great to toss into your gym bag.

Now I'm a huge AXE fan and love when Joe uses it.  There's one in particular, Cool Metal Body Spray, that I'm obsessed with.  Seriously, it makes me crazy. I'd rather him use that than any cologne on a regular basis. However, I know the reaction wouldn't be the same coming from him if I wore Anarchy.  My advice, wear it for yourself and as a daytime refresher, not for him.  I hope they come out with sexier scents for us that make the men come running! Remember this commercial?  Who doesn't want the AXE effect?

AXE Celebrates National Chocolate Day with Men in the Kitchen

I don't know about you, but one of my guiltiest pleasures is chocolate and if you're anything like me, you're in luck because today is International Chocolate Day!  So go ahead and indulge without the guilt.  In honor of the holiday, one of my favorite men's grooming brands, AXE, conducted a study that found that 82% of women agree that chocolate is a temptation that's hard to resist. In honor, AXE put together a chocolate mousse recipe that your man can make for you inspired by their Dark Temptation Body Spray.  Step one is having him spritz their chocolate body spray and then get in the kitchen.  What's better than a man in the kitchen making chocolate?

Get your man started!  Print out the recipe and comment below telling me your absolute favorite chocolate desert to WIN a set of AXE Dark Temptation Body Spray and Hold & Touch Hair Products for your man.  I'm giving away two sets!

Chocolate mousse ingredients

  • 2 ounce(s) of milk chocolate
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup(s) sugar
  • 1 pinch(s) salt
  • 2 tablespoon(s) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup(s) heavy cream

Directions

  1. Prepare for the evening with a hot, refreshing shower using Dark Temptation shower gel.
  2. Then, head to the kitchen and finely chop the milk chocolate and set aside. In a double boiler, whisk yolks, sugar, and salt until sugar has dissolved and mixture is warm to the touch, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, and quickly whisk in chopped chocolate until melted and cocoa until smooth (mixture will be thick). Allow mixture to cool.
  3. In a medium bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Whisk half of whipped cream into room-temperature chocolate mixture. Gently fold in remaining whipped cream with a rubber spatula. Divide mousse among four serving dishes. Chill at least 2 hours and up to 1 day.
  4. While the mousse is cooling, apply Dark Temptation bodyspray to keep you smelling and feeling great all night long.
  5. Remove mousse from refrigerator 15 minutes before serving and garnish with shaved chocolate.
  6. Serve and enjoy a deliciously sinful night with your girlfried.

AXE is Tempting Me Again with Excite, Plus A Giveaway

You all know I'm a huge fan of AXE scents and it just so happens that my boyfriend, Joe, is too. Therefore, when I first heard that they were coming out with a new scent called Excite, he was the first person I called and we put the new collection to the test. Being a dedicated user of AXE in Leather, Joe's open to experimenting with new products from brands that are familiar to him.  I'm a lucky girl! So were the results as dramatic as the commercials?  Did he spritz it and find me running over to him from the other room to tackle him?  No, but as AXE says, it did "make the nice girl sin when tempted."

This new collection is more woody than the rest and blends notes of coconut, hazelnut and caramel.  It's not out on drugstore shelves until June, but I'm giving away 3 sets of the collection to 3 BeautySweetSpot readers!  Read on for deets on how to win:

Man of the Moment: My Boyfriend, Joe!

I'm so excited to kick off the "Man of the Moment" feature by introducing you to my boyfriend.  You may recall the feature "Man of the Week" that I retired, but due to popular demand, I'm bringing it back with "Man of the Moment," giving you a peek into the medicine cabinets and minds of real men a few times a month. Of course, what a better way to begin than to start with my boyfriend, Joe.  I thought it's about time you heard about him, especially since I tweet about him regularly and he so generously agrees to test out some of the men's products I feature.  (Yes, that's what you get for dating a beauty editor)!  Many of the men's posts I write are thanks to Joe.  He inspires them.  Have you ever heard of collar stays?  You will soon!

Joe's 30, from my hometown in Jersey, and ladies let me tell you, much, much more than a "Man of the Moment" (wink)  so I'm going to give you a little more detail.  He's in real estate and loves to work out, watch sports (Giants...ew, Yankees...score), looks amazingly handsome in a crisp suit, always has to match his socks, has a talent for cooking (especially Italian dishes) and is very family oriented.  His guiltiest pleasures... red wine, Neapolitan pizza, running, me (ha!), martinis, nice dinners and romantic comedies (for real)!

Meet my boyfriend:

What’s in your medicine cabinet?

Axe, Gillette, Cetaphil, Dove for men soap, GNC men's multivitamins

How would you describe your grooming habits?

Wash my hair, shave, rinse, wash my face... in that order.  I have a fogless mirror in my shower so I don't have to shave when I get out.  It's my favorite thing.  I like to be fresh.

Now be honest, how would a woman describe your grooming habits?

Jeannine thinks I'm neat and loves the smell of AXE so she prefers... that to cologne.  She also hates that it takes me a total of ten minutes to get ready so I have to wait for her to finish.

When prepping to go out on a date what are the three things you make sure you do?

shower, make sure my clothes are nicely pressed and take a shot of tequila

What’s the first thing you notice about a woman?

The way she walks says a lot.  There's nothing sexier than a confident walk.

When it comes to a woman’s beauty what’s your sweet spot?

Well kept feet.  If a girl takes care of her feet she takes care of everything else.

An AXE Giveaway That'll Turn You (and Him) On

Last week I was talking about flirting with Flirt! cosmetics and besides mascara being a flirting secret weapon (wink) I have to say a sexy scent is an ultimate flirting must have.  Better yet, forget flirting. One whiff of an intoxicating blend can create  a complete throw-me-down-on-the-kitchen-counter reaction.  Ladies, you know what I mean. As a matter of fact, according to a study done by AXE, two out of three women admitted they would be more likely to make out with a guy on a first date if his scent was right.  I'm asking what's wrong with the rest of them?  There's something so captivating about a good fragrance, but a difference between a good scent and an I-want-you scent.  If men were smart, they'd all use scent as their secret weapon. Hey, I do.

I will admit that I have one scent (out of about seven that I rotate between) that's my signature sexy scent. Ladies, it turns guys on.  Everyone asks what it is, but I won't tell them!  Like I said, it's a secret weapon.

I strongly advise you to find your secret weapon and but better yet, help your guy out too.  AXE not only has their signature body sprays (which are intoxicating) but also hair care that smells sexy too.  I'm giving away full sets of shampoos to four different BeautySweetSpot readers so you can hook your men up!

The full giveaway includes one of each of their new scents: Downpour Refreshing Mint Shampoo, Heat Igniting Citrus 2 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner, Zen Soothing Tea Tree Shampoo. Each scent is perfect for different times of day and your mans different moods and needs.  Trust me, he'll thank you.

To win...

Comment below and dish on what turns you on!...

Four winners will be selected at random on Sunday, October 3rd.  Good luck!

Axe Twist Giveaway

Women get bored easily.  This is new inspiration behind the new fragrance AXE Twist, which changes as it's worn. Starting off smelling fresh with hints of citrus and lime (to make a good first impression), then settling into deep earthy notes of cedar and sandal wood, which are more sexy, masculine scents (hello, what's your name again?) the fragrance keeps you interested.

I'm giving away 10 prize packs that include a Swiss Army toiletry bag filled with the deodorant body spray, deodorant stick, and antiperspirant stick so you can put them to test on your man!

Here's how to win:

1. Fan Beauty Sweet Spot on Facebook

2. Comment below by telling me what keeps you interested in a man

The ten winners will be announced Sunday, April 25th so be sure to check back on the below comments and Facebook.  Good Luck!
